Auto Insurance Savings…

Here’s another money saving tip:

If you have USAA since I know alot of the followers do as do I, if you check out GEICO, you can save on your Auto insurance policy. ( I never thought I would say another company outbeats USAA :-O )

I just ran through the steps and will save $880.00 a year!! WOW!! $440 every 6 months savings!!

Things that can help, increase your deductible for all deductibles to $1000. That helps.  Your mileage for work and your yearly mileage on your vehicle. Calculate that.

Now Compare whatever you currently have with USAA or any other company give GEICO the same information and see if you save. If not, stick with what you have, but you have to shop around if you want to save money.

Hopes this helps!! 🙂

P.S. Already have two co-workers that switched over and are saving $500 every 6 months…

Tax Withholding…

If you haven’t done this already, you can increase or to decrease your income tax withholding during the furlough. So if you are withholding at Zero, increase to 8 or 10. The max is Ten. What this does is pretty much balances you out since you will only be taxed on what you make. So since we are currently only getting paid for 32 hours per week vs 40 hours, it should balance out where you will continue to receive the same amount you would get working 40 hours per week vs 32 hours per week.

(You can change your withholding on Mypay. It will look like this.)

**Note: Plsss consult your Tax Adviser. Everyone has different life situations.. I am not a Tax adviser. I am just giving you tips to help you during the furlough based on what I have done.

**Also make sure once the furlough stops, you switch back to what you would normally withhold out of your paycheck for taxes. You don’t want to owe taxes next year because you didn’t switch it back.**

One more thing, ask your tax adviser where you should have your withholding’s so you get most of your money throughout the year. If you like getting a big check every year, then leave it like it is, but if you want to see most of your money through the year like I do, up your withholding’s so that you either even out or get little back from your refund..

Hopes this helps you guys!! 🙂

Another money saving tip….

If you haven’t done so already, call your cell phone company and cable company and let them know you are being furloughed and that you can’t afford to pay them and see what type of deal you can get. I called AT&T and explained my situation and they worked out a great deal for us. So call today don’t wait so you can continue to save money on your bills.

Motivation: “Control what you can control, change what you can change and everything else leave it to our Father.”

P.S. For those that haven’t done so already, pls re-think getting an Apple TV or Roku box. There is great saving in switching over. Hooked up my box this weekend and OMG, AMAZING!!! We love it!!!

Hulu+ and Amazon Prime are the two subscriptions we will use.

For local news channels just get a HD box from Best buy or Walmart, very cheap and inexpensive.

Hope this helps you guys… 🙂

Are you paying to much for your Home Security System…

Here is another tip to help those that pay a lot for their home security system and are tied to a 1 or 2 year contract. Don’t you sometimes hate signing up for things that commit you to them for 2 years. I do. For those that are big Dave Ramsey fans, I found out that you can sign up with Simplisafe, NO CONTRACT, and it only cost 14.99 a month. Also you can install the motion sensors yourself and take the system with you if you were to ever move or relocate. Perfect for the military family who constantly relocates all the time. You do have to pay to get the equipment which is priced fairly well if you ask me.

I will definitely sign up for this.. I love the freedom to cancel anytime I want and it only cost me $14.99 a month vs. $50-$100 a month for the company to monitor my home. Awesome savings!!

Would you rather pay ADT for example $600 dollars a year and be locked in for 2 years or $179.00 a year and never be locked into a contract ever. Makes you think huh.. 🙂

I had a question from a co worker asking if you already had an existing system can you transfer the equipment, I don’t know. But I am confident if you give the company a call, they can definitely answer that question. I don’t have an existing system so I can’t give a good answer for that. 🙂

Hope this helps you guys!! 🙂

Boys and Girls Club

boys and girls club

If you are looking for another alternative to take your kids during the summer while you are at work, you can take them to the Boys and Girls Club. Each location is different, but many only charge a $50 yearly membership fee and you pay $400 dollars for the entire summer or monthly for two children. Depending on income, your child could go for free. If you are military, its free at some locations. This is still cheaper than most daycares, YMCA etc. Please contact the location where you want your child to go to gather more information. This is just a tip to get your started in the right direction to save money during the summer. Click the image for more information. Until next time.. 🙂
